Airway blockage due to internal and external valve collapse. Upon deep inspiration, the nasal walls fall inward and obstruct breathing. This is due to distorted relationships caused by an overgrown central septum (thus causing the prominent profile and the boxy nasal tip). Correction by reducing the septum and using this cartilage to reinforce the weak collapsing cartilages (spreader grafts and alar contour grafts). Airway blockage is frequently covered by insurance.
